94 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, MAY 24, 1994 <br /> <br />$82,133 through the Governor's Office to fund a Community-Oriented <br />Policing Program. Chief of Police Terry L. Roop explained that the <br />City was not awarded a grant to fund this program through the Virginia <br />Department of Criminal Justice Services Anti-Drug Abuse Act. However, <br />the Police Department had discovered the program could be funded <br />through the IDEA Grant, which only requires 5% local matching funds <br />($4,106.65) from the City. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />vote, Council authorized the filing of the grant application. <br /> <br />In a matter not on the agenda, Councilman 0akes requested that the City <br />Manager review the City's policies regarding deposits for utility <br />services and to report on any recommended changes to the policies. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) a personnel matter, as <br />authorized by Subsection 1; and (2) the possible acquisition of real <br />property for public purposes, as authorized by Subsection 3; . At the <br />conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified <br />that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting <br />requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive <br />Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council endorsed the <br />recommendation of the Henry County Board of Supervisors of the <br />appointment of Betty Wright, Patricia Underwood, and Suzanne Lacy to <br />the Board of Directors of the Virginia Museum of Natural History and to <br /> <br /> <br />
