WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1994 <br /> <br />Dwight Mack, Executive Director of FOCUS, requested $3,500 for this <br />agency in order to replace a loss of State funding for the Court- <br />appointed Special Advocate Program. This was not recommended for <br />funding by the City Manager. <br /> <br />John Norman was present to request $2,000 for the Magistrate's Office <br />in order to help fund a new copy machine and office expenses. Mr. <br />Norman said the Magistrate's Office had not requested City funding in <br />the last 20 years, but receives office space, utilities, equipment, and <br />$2,200 annually from Henry County. The City Manager did not recommend <br />funding for this item. <br /> <br />Lynn Wehlau, Executive Director of Citizens Against Family Violence, <br />requested $3,775 for that agency for FY 94-95. The City Manager <br />recommended continued funding of $2,500, the same level as FY 93-94. <br />Ms. Wehlau stated the agency served 263 City residents during 1993, <br />with 1,556 nights of shelter provided. <br /> <br />Bonnie Wilson and Don Sutton were present to request $22,000 for the <br />Virginia Museum of Natural History. The City Manager had included <br />$10,000 for this agency for FY 94-95, a reduction of 812,000 over FY <br />93-94. Ms. Wilson and Mr. Sutton noted the Museum had received a <br />$114,000 cut in State funding for the 1994-96 biennium. Ms. Wilson <br />presented Mayor McClain with letters from School Board members, <br />teachers, and students supporting the Museum's funding request. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of the Martinsville-Henry County <br /> <br />Economic Development Corporation. Frank Novakowski, Executive <br /> <br />Director, was present to request $77,000 in operating funds for FY 94- <br /> <br /> <br />
