14 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 1994 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Allan McClain presiding, was held <br />Tuesday, January 11, 1994, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning <br />at 9:30 A.M. The following members of Council were present: Allan <br />McClain, Mayor; George B. Adams, Jr., Vice-Mayor; and L. D. Oakes. <br />Absent was Clyde L. Willjams, who was away from the City. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its December 14, 1993 <br />meeting as circulated. <br /> <br />Ashby R. Pritchett, Circuit Court Clerk, administered the Oath of <br />Office to Councilman Michael Gene Teague, who was appointed to Council <br />on January 6, 1994. After signing the Oath, Councilman Teague took his <br />place among the Council and participated in the balance of the meeting. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced Dewey P. Cashwell, who was appointed by City <br />Manager Earl B. Reynolds, Jr. to the position of Assistant City Manager <br />effective January 17, 1994. <br /> <br />A retirement stipend was presented to Luke David Bell, Water Resources <br /> <br />Department, 1985-94 (who was present). · <br /> <br />Awards for service on Boards and Commissions were presented to Dennis <br />Hammack, Transportation Safety Commission, 1982-93 and Dr. Mark <br />Crabtree, West Piedmont Planning District Commission Technical Advisory <br />Committee, 1987.93 (neither of whom were present). <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on a request by the City for a <br /> <br /> <br />
