TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1998 <br />WHEREAS, the Football Team has advanced in the Virginia High School League Group AA, Division 4 <br />State semi-finals with a 12-0 record; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Team effort, the sportsmanship, the determination, the skill and the ability displayed by <br />this football team and its coaches exemplifies the spirit and quality of the young people of our community <br />and the athletic programs in our schools; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville wishes to recognize and congratulate the young men of the <br />Martinsville High School Football Team, Head Coach Taylor Edwards and his assistants on their <br />outstanding achievement; now, therefore, <br /> <br />I, Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, along with the other members of City <br />Council, do hereby proclaim November 22-28, 1998, as "Martinsville Bulldog Week" in the City by <br />extending its best wishes and urging its citizens to support the team and its coaches as they compete for a <br />berth in the Group AA, Division 4 State Championship game on November 28, 1998, at Martinsville's <br />own Dan Greene Stadium against Salem High School. <br /> <br />189 <br /> <br />This proclamation was approved by the following vote, all members voting: <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br /> Council next considered three separate Consent Agendas. Consent Agenda I, consisting of the <br />following item, was approved by the following vote, Council Member Roop abstaining due to his full <br />time employment with the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy, all other members <br />voting: <br /> <br />Ao <br /> <br />Accepted and appropriated $7,078 received from various sources for the Piedmont <br />Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy in the General Fund, accepting these funds <br />into Revenue Accounts as follows, for expenditure in various accounts of the Academy: <br />$6,203 additional grant funding into 15-000500; $700 additional Patrick County <br />contribution into 15-000500-5101015; and $175 additional Fieldale contribution into 15- <br />000500-5101050 in the Criminal Justice Academy Fund. <br /> <br /> <br />
