Following an additional commendation for <br /> <br />their service by Council Member Roop, Council voted to endorse the Squad's request for a variance from <br />the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services, by the following vote, all members voting: <br /> <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br /> Council next considered a Staff Report from Wade Bartlett, Finance Director, who reported on the <br />financial status of the City for the month ending October 31, 1998. He noted that actual revenues in all <br />funds except the School Fund had exceeded expectations, that the negative variance in General Fund <br />revenues should be corrected by December receipts, and that revenues in the Electric Fund had greatly <br />exceeded expectations. He noted that in all, nine funds had improved, seven had declined, and two <br />remained unchanged. Council Member Haskell remarked upon the net increase of $75,000 in one month <br />for Electric Fund revenue, and Vice-Mayor Teague remarked upon the fact that there had been $289,000 <br />less in expenditures than anticipated, overall. <br /> <br /> Council next considered the reading of a special proclamation honoring the Martinsville High <br />School Bulldogs Football Team for their performance in their most recent season of play. Members of <br />the Team were present to receive this proclamation, which Mayor Crabtree read, as follows: <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville High School Football Team completed its regular 1998 season as the <br />Piedmont District Champions with a 10-0 record; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Football Team has successfully earned the title of Region IV, Division 4 <br />Champions for the 1998 season; and <br /> <br /> <br />
