CASHWELL Clerk of Council EARL B. REYNOLDS, JR. City Manager RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Danville, Virginia, has been operating W. W. Moore Juvenile Detention Home for many years, and has housed juveniles from the Cities of Danville and Martinsville, and the Counties of Halifax, Henry, Mecklenburg, Patrick and Pittsyl- vania, Virginia (collectively the "Contracting Jurisdictions") during some or all of that period due to the fact that the other localities have no facility in which to house juveniles; and WHEREAS, the need for additional secure detention space for juveniles from Danville and the Contracting Jurisdictions has increased to the point where the Detention Home is not adequate to serve the needs of Danville and the Contracting Jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, Danville and the Contracting Jurisdictions desire to enter into an agreement for the use of the Detention Home on a regional basis upon the completion of a proposed addition and renovation to the Detention Home; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled January 12, 1999, that it does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute the attached Agreement with the City of Danville and the other Contracting Jurisdictions thereby continuing its participation in this partnership of providing secure detention space for juveniles.
