CITY OF MARTINVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 99-2 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />session assembled January ,1999, that it does hereby amend Chapter 12--Motor <br />Vehicles and Traffic, Article IV--Stopping, Standing and Parking, Section 12-98-- <br />Unauthorized use of parking space reserved for handicapped and Section 12-103-- <br />Parking citation penalties of the City Code related to handicap parking violations, as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 12-98. Unauthorized use of parking space reserved for handicapped. <br /> <br /> No person shall park any vehicle in a parking space reserved for the handicapped, <br />and so designated by a sign erected or placed thereat, on any public street or highway, in <br />any municipal parking lot or at any privately-owned shopping center or business office, <br />unless such vehicle is engaged in the transportation of a handicapped person and is <br />beating or displaying a valid special license plate, decal or parking permit lawfully issued <br />by the state division department of motor vehicles pursuant to the provisions of sections <br />46.2-731, 46.2-739 or q6.2 1238 46-2-1242 of the Code of Virginia to or for use by such <br />handicapped person. A ticket, citation or summons for any violation of this section at a <br />privately-owned shopping center or business office may be issued by any police officer <br />or parking enforcement officer without the necessity of a warrant being obtained by the <br />owner of such shopping center or business office. The owner of any privately-owned <br />shopping center or business office shall have the sole responsibility for furnishing, <br />erecting or placing any necessary signs designating handicapped parking at such <br />shopping center or business office. <br /> <br />Sec. 12-103. Parking citation penalties. <br /> <br /> The penalty applicable to parking citations issued for violations of the following <br />sections of this article shall be as herein indicated: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />For violation of section 12-73, 12-74, 12-75, 12-77, 12-78, 12-79, 12-81, <br />12-84, 12-87, 12-91, 12-94, 12-95, or 12-96, the penalty shall be fifteen <br />dollars ($15.00). <br />For violation of section 12-97 or 12 98, the penalty shall be twenty-five <br />dollars ($25.00). <br />For violation of section 12-98. the penalty shall be one hundred <br />dollars ($100.00). <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br />Dewey P.
