THURSDAY, AUGUST 3, 1995 <br /> <br />forward regarding the High School gymnasium pro3ect would be developed <br /> <br />during Council's Retreat. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council voted to <br />waive its normal, per-meeting pay for this work session. <br /> <br />The next item discussed was the Community Development Block Grant <br />Massey Street Project. Ken Poore and Peggy Morrison, of K.W. Poore & <br />Associates, were present to review the present status of the project <br />and to respond to questions from the members of Council. Of particular <br />note was the possible role of the Council acting as the Martinsville <br />Housing and Redevelopment Authority in the acquisition of properties <br />for redevelopment of the area. After much discussion, it was the <br />consensus of Council that the issue of setting a public hearing on the <br />Redevelopment Plan would be placed on the August 22, 1995 agenda. <br />Council also consented to Mr. Reynolds' request that appraisals be <br />performed on property which may be acquired in the redevelopment <br />process. <br /> <br />The final item on the agenda was a discussion with R. David Blackman, <br />of Blackman & Associates, to establish an agenda for Council's Retreat. <br />Each member of Council provided Mr. Blackman with issues, which he <br />stated would be developed into Retreat objectives. Council also <br />decided to conduct a tour of the City beginning at 8:30 A.M. on August <br />24. <br /> <br />There being no other business to come before the Council, Mayor Adams <br /> <br />declared the meeting adjourned. ~.~~ ~ <br /> Lance G.
