164 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JULY 11, 1995 <br /> <br />necessary due to the retirement of Hazel Wells, who had been authorized <br />to sign transactions relating to this account. Mr. Fitts recommended <br />adoption of the Resolution authorizing any two of the following four <br />individuals to sign transactions: Richard D. Fitts, Donna M. O'Dell, <br />Linda H. Conover and Pamela S. Rakes. Upon motion, duly seconded and <br />by unanimous vote, Council adopted the Resolution. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set public <br />hearings for July 25, 1995 on the following matters: (1) a request by <br />the City to rezone Lots 25 and 26 located at 1055 Brookdale Road from <br />R-9 Residential to C-1A Commercial; and (2) an amendment to the City's <br />Proposed Land Use Plan Map to indicate the City-owned property at 1055 <br />Brookdale Road be changed from its current designation as Semi-Public <br />to Commercial. <br /> <br />In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) <br />Councilman Willjams stated that citizens had complained about an <br />individual walking the streets of the City with a snake wrapped around <br />his neck, thereby frightening them, and asked the City Manager if <br />anything could be done regarding this situation; City Manager Earl B. <br />Reynolds, Jr. said he would investigate the matter and report back to <br />Councilman Williams; (2) Councilman Crabtree noted this meeting was the <br />first of his second year on Council and expressed appreciation to <br />citizens, fellow Councilmen and the City staff for making the past year <br />a good year; (3) Lafayette Jones, 501 Second Street, noted continuing <br />problems with litter in the right-of-way in the West Side of the City; <br />Mr. Reynolds said he would follow-up on this matter; and (4) James <br />Willjams, 600 Third Street, expressed concern regarding poor air <br />quality in his neighborhood, which he believed was attributable to the <br /> <br /> <br />
