].52 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 13, 1995 <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council Of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br />held Tuesday, June 13, 1995 in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br />beginning at 7:30 P.M. The following members of Council were present <br />at the beginning of the meeting: George B. Adams, Jr., Mayor; L. D. <br />Oakes, Vice-Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree; and Clyde L. Willjams. Councilman <br />M. Gene Teague was not pre~t at the beginning of the meeting due to <br />his attendance at the visi:~ti~ of a fellow church member who had <br />passed away. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor Adams' cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its May 23, 1995 <br />meeting as circulated. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing to receive applicants for <br /> <br />appointment to the City School Board for a three-year term beginning <br /> <br />July 1, 1995. The Mayor noted that according to State law, no <br /> <br />appointment to the School Board could be made until seven days <br />following the public hearing, therefore, Ca~.~O..l, ~,a~ned to make the <br />actual appointment at its next regular mee~i~fl:;¢'~'' ~.' May~ .~.oted that <br />Judith Matthews, 211 Arrowhead Trail, had expressed <br /> <br />reappointed to this position There being no comments from ns <br />present regarding this matter, Mayor Adams declared the public hearing <br /> <br />closed. <br /> <br />At this point in the meeting, Councilman Teague arrived at the meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
