The only advantage listed for this plan would be that the <br />project cost would be approximately $528,000 less. Disadvantages <br />listed were: (1) the future addition of a 4.8 bed wing would cost more <br />than if it were built r~; (2) theetonal staff would be divided <br />between two facilities; a~4t (3) ~b.l~~has ~lehighest cost per bed. <br />Mr. Smith noted that Plan C ~s ~bab;l~ tba least desirable of the <br />plans. <br /> <br />Councilmen Crabtree and Teague noted the Sheriff bad made a request to <br />Council to place the operation of the City Prison Farm under his <br />jurisdiction and that this issue needs to be placedon a Council agenda <br />so that a decision can be made on that request. <br /> <br />After much discussion, Mr. Reynolds stated that he believed the best <br /> <br />alternative was an "enhanced" version of Plan A, wi.th the City securing <br /> <br />property located on Moss Street for a potential. new facility, and <br />continuing to work with other localities in"'0rae~ tO~ but'*~ a regional <br />jail facility on that site.
