WHEREAS, the Virginia Museum of Natural History has requested <br />funding from the Virginia Department of Forestry to provide <br />the Martinsville-Henry County community with an Arbor Day <br />Festival and tree planting ceremonies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this request has been reviewed by the Martinsville <br />City Council on May 9, 1995, and found to be highly desirable <br />in providing an educational service and festival to the <br />citizens of this community; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED b~l~ the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular ~eeSion assembled May 9, 1995, that it <br />does hereby strongly encourage the Virginia ~partment of <br />Forestry tO pr~vi.~e support for the Virginia Museum of <br />Natural ~$~orV's Arbor Day Festival and tree planting <br />ceremonieS by ~3U~ding of this grant application. <br /> <br />In res!ponse~en~iry by Councilman Teague, Mr. Reynolds stated the <br />Staff would b=[~f.:Council in July on an enhanced inspection program, <br />which would address, in part, the General Assembly's adoption of <br />legislation des~igned at aiding localities in dealing with "spot blight <br />abatement". <br /> <br />Mr. Reynol~f~ announced ground-breaking ceremonies for the Junior High <br />Modernization Project would be held on May 22, 1995 at 9:00 A.M. <br /> <br />There b~ing,,no further business to come before the Council, Mayor Adams <br />declared the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Lance G.
