TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 1995 <br /> A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of <br /> Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br /> held Tuesday, March 28, 1995 at the Virginia Museum of Natural History, <br /> 1001 Douglas Street, beginning at 6:00 P.M. Present at the beginning <br /> <br /> of the meeting were the following members of Council: George B. Adams, <br />Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, Vice-Mayor; M. Gene Teague; and Clyde L. <br /> <br /> Williams. Mark A. Crabtree was not present due to a scheduling <br /> conflict. <br /> <br />Also in attendance were members of the Martinsville City School Board: <br />Judith Matthews, Chairman; J. A. "Sonny" Dykes, Vice-Chairman; Bernie <br />F. Gray, Jr.; James H. Johnson, Jr.; and William Shackleford, Sr. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the investment of public funds, where competition is <br />involved, as authorized by Subsection 6. At the conclusion of this <br />Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only <br />public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only those business <br />matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were <br />heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Councilman Mark A. Crabtree joined the meeting immediately following <br />the conclusion of the Executive Session. Council took no action on the <br />matter discussed in Executive Session. <br /> <br />Superintendent of Schools, S. Harold Lamm, stated the School Board had <br /> <br /> <br />
