TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 1995 <br />appointments to the Martinsville-Henry County Action Council, as <br />authorized by Subsection 1; and (6) discussion and consideration of the <br />investment of public funds where competition is involved, which has not <br />been publicly discussed at this time due to a possible adverse effect <br />on the financial interest of the City, as authorized by Subsection 6. <br />At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council <br />certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open <br />meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) <br />only those business matters identified in the motion convening the <br />Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said <br />Session. <br /> <br />Council took no action on items 1, 3, 4, and 6 discussed in Executive <br />Session. <br /> <br />Regarding Item 2, and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br />Council adopted the following Resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville, Virginia, has agreed to convey to <br />the County of Henry, Virginia, for the price of Five Thousand Dollars <br />($5,000) per acre, that certain tract or parcel of land situated on the <br />northeasterly side of State Route 970 in the Ridgeway District, Henry <br />County, Virginia, containing 22.5569 acres as shown on plat of survey <br />prepared by Larry G. Rakes, C.L.S., dated September 26, 1986, and <br />revised September 14, 1987, to which survey reference is hereby made <br />for a more particular description of the land to be conveyed, as <br />aforesaid; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the said County of Henry has requested that said survey be <br />updated prior to the conveyance of said land in order to reflect any <br />easements or other servitudes on the ground to which said land has been <br />subjected since September 14, 1987; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said survey update has not as yet been completed, and the <br />Council of the City of Martinsville desires to authorize the execution <br />of a deed making the aforesaid conveyance according to the aforesaid <br />terms as soon as said survey update is finished without the necessity <br />of holding a special meeting in order to do so; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session held on March 14, 1995, that the City Manager be, and <br /> <br /> <br />
