TUESDAY. FEBRUARY 28. 1995

A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of

Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was
held Tuesday, February 28, 1995 in the Council Chamber, City Hall~
beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council were present: George B.

Adams, Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, Vice-Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree; M. Gene

Teague; and Clyde L. Williams.

After the invocation, 'followed by Mayor Adams' cordial welcome to
visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its February 14, 1995
meeting as circulated.

Under Business from the Floor, J. In response to a question by Ms.
Hylt~n, Mr. Reynolds stated that the Citizen's Committee which advised
the School Board regarding the School Building Program had recommended
renovation of the Junior High rather than constructing a new facility.

Council considered appropriating $2,500 as the City's share of interim

costs related to the Martinsville-Henry County Action Council and
Educational Systems Optimization Task Force efforts. Elizabethi!~
Haskell, Chairman of the Action Council, was present to request interim~
funding for the groups' efforts through April 1.
