TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 1995 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, Council affirmed <br />appointments and assignments (See Exhibit A) of the following commit- <br />tees related to the Community-in-Transition Program: (A) Martinsville- <br />Henry County Action Council - Chairman Elizabeth H. Haskell, Simon <br />Spencer (Alternate-Paula Burnette), M. Gene Teague (Alternate-Mark A. <br />Crabtree), Jacques Dionne, Larry Ryder, Dennis Broadnax, Cynthia <br />Ingram, Harriett Mattox, Dr. Calvin Rains, Reverend Jimmie Hawkins, <br />Irving M. Groves, Jr., Eliza Severt, Larry Turner, Allen Oakley, Kelvin <br />Perry, James H. Ford, Nancy Bradshaw, Billy Young, and Mary Hairston; <br />and (B) Martinsville-Henry County Educational Systems Optimization Task <br />Force - Chairman Earl Dodrill, Dr. Beth Baptist, Betsy Mattox, Joe <br />Keen, Dr. Joe deVault, Charles Preston, Pat Walmsley, Joan Montgomery, <br />W. W. Edwards, James L. Franklin, Jr., J. A. "Sonny"' Dykes, Bobby <br />Hodges, Harry Varn, Jr., John Winske, Robert Carrington, and Linda Cox. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, Council scheduled a <br />public hearing for their February 28, 1995, meeting on a request bythe <br />City Council to rezone property owned by R. P. Thomas Trucking Company, <br />from M-1 Industrial to C-1A Intermediate Commercial and R-9 Residen- <br />tial. <br /> <br />Other matters mentioned that were not on the Agenda, included: (1) <br />City Manager Reynolds introduced David Reeves, the City's Development <br />Specialist, who would be working in the Community Development Office; <br />(2) Councilman Teague noted he had received complaints regarding park- <br />ing on Main Street and that the use of parking meters had been suggest- <br />ed, to which the City Manager noted the entire parking situation was <br />under study and the City's March newsletter contains a Citizen Survey <br />which should provide some additional insight to this concern; (3) Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
