The <br />consultants had strongly recommended the closing of the two sections of <br />Jefferson Street at that intersection, however, in a public meeting <br />held in the area this solution was not favored by citizens. <br /> <br />Mr. Towarnicki said that a traffic count study had shown 3ustification <br />for the signalization of the intersection of Rives Road and Mulberry <br />Road. The study did not recommend signalizing the Spruce, MUlberry, <br />and Jefferson intersection. Mr. Towarnicki recommended not taking any <br />action with that intersection because residents of the area are opposed <br />to closing the two sections of Jefferson Street. <br /> <br />In another traffic-related issue, Mr. Towarnicki recommended the <br />installation of a narrow traffic island on Spruce Street to prevent <br />early left turns onto Sprucedale. <br /> <br />With regard to the intersection of Clearview Drive and Barrows Mill <br />Road, the Transportation Safety Commission recommended relocating the <br />stop sign from Clearview Drive to Barrows Mill Road. Mr. Towarnicki <br />stated that there is a much higher amount of traffic on Clearview Drive <br />than Barrows Mill Road now that the City Landfill is accepting waste <br />from Henry County. Therefore, Clearview should be the through street. <br />Vice-Mayor Oakes said there is a need to conduct a public hearing prior <br />to making any change. Mayor Adams suggested that Mr. Towarnicki <br />present data on this issue to Council at a regular meeting so that <br /> <br /> <br />
