TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 1996 <br />Council considered endorsing the Action Council's "Vision 2008" Plan. <br />Council Member Haskell, who served as Chairperson of the Action <br />Council, reviewed th~ elements of the plan, stating that the year 2008 <br />was chosen as it was the date by which children entering kindergarten <br />would graduate from high school. In response to a question from Alexis <br />Lee, 127 Sellers Street, Mayor Adams indicated that Council's <br />endorsement of the Plan would mean that Council would assist, wherever <br />appropriate, in using City resources to implement the elements of the <br />plan. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council <br />endorsed the goals contained in the Vision 2008 Plan and committed to <br />review the goals during the finalization of Council's strategic plan. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted a <br />Public Participation Plan and set dates to receive public comment <br />regarding the issue of conducting a study to determine whether or not <br />the City and Henry County should be merged into one government entity <br />as follows: October 7,--Martinsville High School Auditorium and <br />October 17--Martinsville Middle School Auditorium. Council also agreed <br />to meet with the Henry County Board of Supervisors on November 7, 1996. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted and <br />appropriated $9,789.26 in State Forfeited Asset Proceeds to the Police <br />Department's FY 96-97 budget. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted and <br />appropriated $1,505.30 in State Forfeited Asset Proceeds to the <br />Commonwealth Attorney's FY 96-97 budget. <br /> <br />Council considered accepting and appropriating $250,020 of a loan from <br /> <br /> <br />
