,1,64 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, MAY 28, 1996 <br /> <br />A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br />held Tuesday, May 28, 1996 in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning <br />at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council were present: George B. Adams, <br />Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, Vice-Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree; M. Gene Teague; <br />and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor Adams' cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its meetings of May <br />8, 10, 13, and 14, 1996. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted and <br />appropriated $400 to the FY 95-96 Police Department budget which was <br />donated to the Martinsville Transportation Safety Commission for the <br />Bicycle Safety Rodeo, which was conducted May 18, 1996. Providing $100 <br />each were Smart Machine Technologies, Martinsville DuPont Credit Union, <br />Exchange Club of Martinsville and the Martinsville Community Recreation <br />Association, Inc. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted and <br />appropriated $900 to the FY 95-96 Police Department budget which was <br />contributed by an anonymous donor to be used for the purchase of an <br />electrostatic dust print lifter. <br /> <br />Council deferred consideration of submitting nominations for membership <br />on the Virginia Municipal League's Policy Committees to determine the <br />interest, if any, of newly-elected Councilmen in serving on the <br />Committees. <br /> <br /> <br />
