WEDNESDAY. MAY 8, 1996 <br />City Manager Earl B. ReynoldS, Jr. included the current level of <br />funding ($263,953) in the basic budget and 83,878 in the supplemental <br /> <br />budget. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget requests of the Registrar and <br />Commissioner of Revenue. Ercell Cowan, Registrar, and J. Ronnie <br />Minter, Commissioner of Revenue, were present to respond to questions <br />from Council regarding specific budget line items. <br /> <br />The budget request of Citizens Against Family Violence was made by <br />Executive Director Lynn Wehlau. Ms. Wehlau requested funding in the <br />amount of $4,000, a $275 increase over FY 95-96. This level was <br />recommended by the City Manager. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of the Treasurer. Treasurer <br />Bernice Smith was present to respond to questions from Council <br />regarding specific budget line items. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. At <br />the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council <br />certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open <br />meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and <br /> <br />only those business matters identified in the motion convening the <br />Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said <br />Session. <br /> <br /> <br />
