THURSDAY, MARCH 7, 1996 <br />reduce and elminate accidents and promote safety, thereby reducing <br />insurance costs. He commended the City's positive response through <br />management commitment and employee training which had proven beneficial <br />in reducing accidents and loss of time on the job. He noted that the <br />Fire and Police have the most problems, but many of their in3uries are <br />a result of their uncontrolled environment and situations. They will <br />continue to work with the City's Safety Director to target problem <br />areas, needs and concerns. City Manager Reynolds noted that the City <br />was developing an internal Wellness Committee to assist with these <br />efforts. <br /> <br />]jll <br /> <br />Ms. Karen Myers explained the management of Workers Compensation claims <br />and the progress they have been able to make to speed up the reporting <br />and payment of claims. They have three Registered Nurses on staff who <br />are involved with the needs of the employer and employee in determinin9 <br />when injured employees are ready for modified and/or regular work <br />duties.
