THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 1996 <br /> <br />been completed at Beaver Creek Reservoir; (2) a variable speed drive <br />needed to be replaced at the Beaver Creek pump station; and (3) smaller <br />pumps were needed at the Little Beaver Creek pump station. <br /> <br />Water Plant improvements planned included a 500 KW generator, <br />construction of a chemical feed building, developing a sludge collector <br />system (thereby eliminating the existing sludge lagoons) and making <br />masonry building repairs. <br /> <br />In discussing the water distribution system, Mr. Dyches reported on the <br />need for constructing a 16-inch line from the Water Plant to Bethel <br />Lane and the need for a larger line from the Water Plant to the <br />Hospital. <br /> <br />Regarding the Wastewater Plant, Mr. Dyches stated that sludge belt <br />presses would need to be replaced in FY 97-98 and in FY 99-00. A need <br />also exists for a 1000 KW generator or an alternate power feed to the <br />Plant. Mr. Dyches stated that long-term plans were still being <br />considered for an alternate sludge disposal method for the time when <br />the City's Landfill is closed. <br /> <br />Finally, regarding the sewage collector system, Mr. Dyches reported on <br />efforts to reduce inflow of storm water drainage into the system and <br />the possible need for a larger line on Northside Drive. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the investment of public funds, as authorized by <br /> <br /> <br />
