THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1995 A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was held Thursday, October 12, 1995 in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council were present: George B. Adams, Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, Vice-Mayor; Mark A. Crabtree; M. Gene Teague; and Clyde L. Willjams. After the invocation, followed by Mayor Adams' cordial welcome to visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its meetings of September 20 and 26, 1995. Council conducted a public hearing on a request by Jim Warren to rezone Lot H-14 at 608 East Church Street from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional. Wayne Knox, Planning, Zoning & Housing Manager, noted the Planning Commission had recommended approval of the request and that the proposed rezoning was in keeping with the Proposed Land Use Plan for the area. There being no comments from persons present, Mayor Adams declared the public hearing closed. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the following Ordinance: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled this twelfth day of October, 1995, that in order to assure compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491(g), it is stated that the public purpose for which this Resolution is initiated is to fulfill the requirements of public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is hereby-- amended to the extent that Section 34, Block 3, Lot H-14, on the Tax Map of the City of Martinsville is hereby rezoned from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional.
