Stone to rezone property located at 801
Starling Avenue, from R-6 Residential to P-2 Professional.

Set a public hearing to amend the City's Proposed Land Use Map to indicate that recently rezoned
property located at 1107 Chatham Road be shown as Professional rather than the present designation of
High-Density Residential.

Under items not on the Agenda, Mayor Crabtree stated that he had received notice that the City had received
$30 in funds from the sale of special "Animal Friendly" license plates, and wanted to know the Council's
pleasure in terms of giving these funds to the Local Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as had been
done the year before. Upon motion duly seconded, and by unanimous vote (5-Ayes--Crabtree, Teague,
Dallas, Haskell and Roop; 0-Nayes), Council approved the granting of these funds to the SPCA.

Under other items, Council Member Haskell noted the receipt of a letter from Mr. Jim Tobin, conceming a
report which is recommending the closure of the Southern Virginia Mental Institute in Danville, Virginia.
Council Member Haskell suggested that Mr. Tobin should be invited to the next City Council Meeting to
discuss how Council can help Mr. Tobin and others prevent this closure from occurring.

Council Member Dallas took the opportunity to thank Mr. Clyde Williams and Leisure Services Director
Tony .Rinaldi and his staff for their assistance at the recent Labor Day Picnic at Baldwin Park.

Mr. Reynolds reminded Council of their upcoming Work Session on October 11, 1998, stating that they might
be able to review a preliminary report on the current Audit.

There being no further business to come before Council the meeting was adjourned.

Dewey P.
