TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 1998 <br />agenda for this meeting and the goals to be sought. Mr. Tom Harned, Assistant to the City Manager for <br /> <br />Development, responded to these questions. Council Member Teague indicated his intent to attend the <br />meeting, as did incoming Council Member Terry Roop. <br /> <br />Council next considered the need to meet in Executive Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of <br />the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />A. Possible disposition of real property for public use, as authorized by Subsection 3. <br /> <br />B. Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual litigation, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> <br />C. A personnel matter under the jurisdiction of City Council, as authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business <br />matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only those <br />business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed, or <br />considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Following their return to open meeting Council took the following actions: <br /> <br /> On items A. and B., no action was taken. On item C. Council directed City Attorney David Worthy <br />to prepare an amendment to the City Manager's Contract for employment to reflect an extension of the <br />contract for two additional years, through March, 2001, and an added provision that the City Manager may be <br />allowed to accumulate Sick Leave up to a maximum of one hundred twenty (120) days, with provision of pay <br />out at termination of employment of up to 50% of the balance of Sick Leave days remaining. <br /> <br /> <br />
