Reynolds, Jr. work with County Administrator Sid Clower on this issue and return to <br />council with recommendations. Council Member Haskell stated her desire that open <br />communications on these issues be held, and Council Member Teague indicated that this would <br />certainly occur when Council had to consider and vote upon any formula share changes. <br /> <br />Council next considered approval, on first reading, of Ordinance No. 98-6 amending Article <br />VIII--Payment of Service Charges, Section 8.1--Regarding the City' s Terms and Conditions for <br />Water and Sewer Service related to the reading of water meters. Following brief discussion, and <br />upon motion duly seconded, by unanimous vote, Council approved Ordinance No. 98-6 on first <br />reading. <br /> <br />Council next considered a report by Pat Conrad, City Treasurer, on the implementation of <br />payment of utih'ties, business license fees, parking tickets and taxes with a credit card by using a <br />touch-tone telephone. Ms. Conrad stated that there would be no cost to the City for provision of <br />this service, as the credit card user would pay a user convenience fee, and that customers would <br />be able to call in on a touch-tone telephone and pay virtually any tax or bill owed to the City <br />through use of a credit card. Ms. Conrad cited successful examples of such systems in other <br />communities, and showed Council a special flyer to be distributed to help people become aware of <br />this service. Council Member Haskell asked if check or cash payments would still be accepted <br />and was told that they would. Mayor Adams asked how Ms. Conrad would receive notification <br />of payment, and was informed that a next-day fax advisory would be received and a notice on the <br />following day of the wire transfer of funds.
