THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 1998 <br />Haskell stated that she liked the elevated audience concept, whereas Vic~e-Mayor Crabtree did not. Council <br /> illi <br />Member Teague stated his belief that the better communications capabty sought could best be achieved with <br /> <br />the advent of video technology, through a strategic placement of cameras and monitors. Mr. Harwood closed <br /> <br />his presentation by noting that the estimate for remodeling the Council Chambers was $200,000-$300,000. <br /> <br />Mr. Reynolds stated that although video technology could certainly improve the situation it would probably <br /> <br />not represent the ultimate solution. <br /> <br />Council next heard a presentation on a concept for improvements to the tooker Field Baseball Facility. Other activities proposed included coneels, ~ f~rs, festiv~s, etc. <br />Coundl Member Dallas then asked what other fa~ities were ~sited by the tea~ ~d was told that the b~ <br />p~ks in D~viHe, Virg~ ~d ~rhm, Bur~n~on, ~d ~eensboro, North Carol~a had been ~ewed. ~. <br />D~las then stated that one of the key issues to be addressed was a sho~age of p~ng at Hooker Field. ~. <br />Da~d ~11 then stated that the concept ~cluded paring ~provements, but that the first p~ of the <br />improvements would be to bring the cu~em facilities up to profession~ baseb~l stand~ds as noted in <br />comp~son to other faceties, including improvements to restrooms, offi~ ~,es, dugouts, ~d other ~eas. He <br />stated that a double-sid~ faeili~ would then be er~ted to ea~ on aetiv ties outside the ball field, ~d <br />adjacent areas would be ~nsidered for paring. ~.
