2i 2 <br /> TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1998 <br /> <br /> and that there was a meeting planned with the new director of the Gateway Streetscape organization as well. <br /> <br /> She went on to say that their goal was to make her neighborhood the most enviable in the City. <br /> <br /> Mayor Adams brought several items of mail to the attention of Council~ including a brochure from Anderson & <br /> Associates of Roanoke, the Piedmont Regional Chamber of Commerce, information on a Civil War Trails event <br /> in Manassas, VA~ and the Virginia Severe Storms Management Conference. The Mayor also noted that he had <br /> contacted Mr. Wayne Knox, the City' s Planning~ Zoning and Housing Manager, about the possibility of the <br /> Master Gardeners group helping residents in the City establish home gardens for vegetables and flowers, with <br /> the possibility of producing $500 or more annually in vegetable products from each such garden for the use of <br /> families, citing the example of a similar program in Portland, Oregon. <br /> <br />Council next considered the need to meet in Executive Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of <br />the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br />(A~) Personnel matters as authorized by Subsection 1 and; (B.) Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized <br />by Subsection 1. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business <br />matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed, or <br />considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Following their return to open meeting Council took no action on either of the above Executive Session <br />items. <br /> <br /> <br />
