TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1998 A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, February 10, 1998, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:00 P.M. The following members of Council were present: George B. Adams, Jr., Mayor; Dr. Mark A. Crabtree, Vice-Mayor; Bruce H.T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell, and M. Gene Teague. After the invocation, provided by Vice-Mayor Crabtree, and followed by the Mayor's cordial welcome to visitors present, Council approved, upon motion duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, the minutes of its meetings of January 13 and January 27, 1998. 1.4. The next item for Council's consideration was the adoption and presentation of a resolution expressing Council's appreciation to the Tultex Corporation for its recent donation of land in the Uptown area to the City. Ms. Kathy Rogers of Tultex Corporation was present to accept the Resolution. Upon motion duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the following: A RESOLUTION OF THANKS TO TULTEX CORPORATION WHEREAS, Tultex Corporation is a major industry in the Martinsville-Henry County area, offering employment, capital investment and other contributions to the improvement of economic conditions in our area; and WHEREAS, Tultex Corporation has donated several parcels within the block bounded by Church, Moss, Fayette, and Market Streets in the City of Martinsville to the City of Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing Authority for redevelopment as a commercial area; and WHEREAS, the donation by Tultex Corporation will, by their generosity, help to bring more commerce, more jobs, and a better standard of economic living to our area; and WHEREAS, Tultex Corporation has made this property available to the Authority for the Authority's use for commercial development purposes and for the intended purposes of the Authority as established by the City of MartinsviHe; and
