TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1997 <br /> <br />Upon proper motion, the;City Council of Martinsville, Virginia, does hereby adopt the following Resolution: <br /> <br />WITNESSETH: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Pat S. Conrad was duly elected as Treasurer for the City of Martinsville, Virginia, for the term <br />beginning January 1, 1998; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the following banks and institutions are current depositories of City funds: <br /> <br /> Patrick Henry National Bank <br /> First Union National Bank <br /> Piedmont Trust Bank <br />Nationsbanc Capital Markets, Inc., Charlotte, North Carolina <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />session assembled December 9, 1997, that it does hereby request each of the above institutions to change the <br />accounts and deposits held for the City of Martinsville, Virginia, by Bernice H. Smith, Treasurer, to read City <br />of Martinsville, Virginia, by Pat S. Conrad, Treasurer. Each bank is directed to pay only those checks signed <br />by the outgoing Treasurer and her authorized deputies bearing dates prior to January 1, 1998, and checks <br />dated on and after January 1, 1998, when signed by the incoming Treasurer, or a deputy if so authorized. <br />Each bank and institution is further requested to send future statements and paid checks to the new Treasurer. <br /> <br />Council next considered the authorization of the Mayor or Vice-mayor to execute a Lease Agreement among <br />the City, Henry County, and the Henry-Martinsville Department of Social Services for the property occupied <br />by the Department of Social Services at 20 East Church Street. Upon motion duly seconded, and upon <br />unanimous vote, Council authorized the Mayor or Vice-Mayor to execute the lease as presented. <br /> <br />Council next considered its Consent Agenda, and upon motion duly seconded, by unanimous vote, set a public <br />heating on the use of $30,801, to be awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance for the Local Law <br />Enforcement Block Grant Program to the Police Department, for laptop computers, said public hearing to be <br /> <br />set for Council's meeting of January 13, 1997. <br /> <br /> <br />
