TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1997 <br /> <br />mentioned earlier. No one else spoke; therefore, the Public Heating was closed. Upon a motion and a second, <br /> <br />Council unanimously adopted an ordinance to rezone the property of 410 Starling Avenue from P-2 <br />Professional to C-3 Commercial, as follows: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in <br />order to assure compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491 (g), it is stated that the public purpose for <br />which this Ordinance is initiated is to fulfill the requirements of public necessity, convenience, general <br />welfare and good zoning practice, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- and is <br />hereby -- amended to the extent that 410 Starling Avenue, Parcel 43 (2) I7R-1, on the Zoning Map of the <br />City of Martinsville is hereby rezoned from P-2 Professional to C -3 Commercial. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force <br />immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Upon an additional motion and a second, Council unanimously voted to authorize the City Manager to execute <br />an instrument vacating a portion of the plat designated as a "paper alley' of 16' X 93+'. <br /> <br />Next, Council considered a Public Heating on a proposal to amend the City's Proposed Land Use Map from <br />its current designation at 410 Starling Avenue, from Industrial to Commercial. There were no speakers at <br />the Public Hearing, and the hearing was closed. Upon motion and a second, Council unanimously adopted <br />an ordinance to amend the City's Land Use Map of 410 Starling Avenue from Professional to Commercial, <br />as follows: <br /> <br />AMENDING THE PROPOSED LAND USE MAP <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in <br />order to assure compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491 (g), it is stated that the public purpose for <br />which this Ordinance is initiated is to fulfill the requirements of public necessity, convenience, general <br />welfare and good zoning practice, that the Proposed Land Use Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- <br />and is hereby--amended to the extent that 410 Starling Avenue, Parcel 43 (2) 17R-l, on the Tax Map of the <br />City of Martinsvitte, is designated as being for Commercial usage. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force <br />immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
