TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1997 <br />A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. <br /> <br />Adams, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, November 11, 1997, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning <br />at 7:00 P.M. The following members of Council were present: George B. Adams, Jr., Mayor; Dr. Mark A. <br />Crabtree, Vice-Mayor; Bruce H.T. Dallas, Elizabeth H. Haskell, and M. Gene Teague. <br /> <br />Alter the invocation, provided by Mayor George B. Adams, Jr., and followed by Mayor Adams' cordial <br />welcome to visitors present, Council approved, upon motion duly seconded, and by unanimous vote, the <br />minutes of its meetings of October 23 and 28, 1997, with corrections as circulated. <br /> <br />Council members made a special presentation to City Attorney, David Worthy. Mr. Worthy was given a <br />pen set as a token of appreciation for his twenty-five years of dedicated service to the Council, and the <br />citizens of Martinsville as the City's Attomey. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as mended) and upon <br />motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the <br />purpose of discussing the following matter: (A.) Possible acquisition of property for public use, as authorized <br />by Sub section 3. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business <br />matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in .said executive session; and (2) only those <br />business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed, or <br />considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Following their return to open meeting, Council took the following action: <br /> <br /> <br />
