THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1997 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the passage of traffic through this intersection is vitally important to the orderly and healthy <br />~-,development of Martinsville-Henry County and the surrounding area, to help bring more industry, more jobs, <br /> higher paying jobs, growth in the tax base and a better standard of economic living to our area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Route 174 should be improved in a manner that will 'bring the greatest benefit to the greatest <br />number of people, and serve as a connector for the industrial parks and employment centers in Henry County <br />and the City of Martinsville promoting the orderly movement of employees, goods and services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Route 174 does provide the most direct connector for the City of Martinsville with Patrick <br />Henry Community College, Beaver Creek Industrial Park, and Bowles Industrial Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Route 174 does provide the most direct connector for Henry County with Clearview Business <br />Park, Liberty Fair Mall, Commonwealth Boulevard, and Memorial Hospital; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the County of Henry and the City of Martinsville that both governing bodies, <br />assembled in special session on October 23, 1997, do hereby recommend and support the expedited <br />engineering and construction of improvements to the Liberty Street, Clearview Drive, and Stultz Road <br />Intersection on Route 174 in the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />Following this action, Councilmember Teague, followed by the other members of Council, expressed his <br />appreciation for the County Board' s participation in the meeting, and the meeting was then adjourned by both <br />bodies of government2 <br /> <br />There being no further business, Mayor Adams adjourned the meeting. <br /> <br />Dew I <br />Jr ' Mayor/~ <br /> <br /> <br />
