THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 1997
responsiveness to problems reported, and the excellent job they are

doing. Mayor Adams then suggested that development of life skills
training programs and the possible creation of an expanded housing
quality enforcement program might be good topics for future Council Work
Sessions. Mr. Christopher Whitlow then described the
Abandoned/inoperative Vehicle Enforcement Program, and stated how
effective it had been since its inception. Mr. Whitlow stated that over
150 vehicles had been towed, of 300 total tagged, and that 50 had been
tagged since July of 1997 alone. Councilmember Dallas emphasized that all
of our public employees need to be attentive to this issue as they work
throughout the community. At the close of this presentation Mr. Knox
invited members of Council and the public to come and see the new home
being built through the Community Development Block Grant Program, at 218
Moss Street.

Council then entered into discussion on the schedule for its Neighborhood
Tour and Reception, to be held prior to the September 23, 1997 Council
meeting, which will be a quarterly Town Meeting. Agreement was reached
that the tour will occur from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on September 23, 1997,
with a reception to follow at the Middle School at 6:00 PM.

There being no further business, Mayor Adams adjourned the meeting.

Dew~hw~~ll, Clerk o CounciL1
