Mayor Adams then suggested that development of life skills <br />training programs and the possible creation of an expanded housing <br />quality enforcement program might be good topics for future Council Work <br />Sessions. Mr. Christopher Whitlow then described the <br />Abandoned/inoperative Vehicle Enforcement Program, and stated how <br />effective it had been since its inception. Mr. Whitlow stated that over <br />150 vehicles had been towed, of 300 total tagged, and that 50 had been <br />tagged since July of 1997 alone. Councilmember Dallas emphasized that all <br />of our public employees need to be attentive to this issue as they work <br />throughout the community. At the close of this presentation Mr. Knox <br />invited members of Council and the public to come and see the new home <br />being built through the Community Development Block Grant Program, at 218 <br />Moss Street. <br /> <br />Council then entered into discussion on the schedule for its Neighborhood <br />Tour and Reception, to be held prior to the September 23, 1997 Council <br />meeting, which will be a quarterly Town Meeting. Agreement was reached <br />that the tour will occur from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on September 23, 1997, <br />with a reception to follow at the Middle School at 6:00 PM. <br /> <br />There being no further business, Mayor Adams adjourned the meeting. <br /> <br />Dew~hw~~ll, Clerk o CounciL1 <br /> <br /> <br />
