TUESDAY, MAY 27, 1997 two positions, with three-year terms beginning July 1, 1997. 173 Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous Vote, Council accepted 818,653 in State funds and appropriated $20,726 for the Victim Witness Program in the Commonwealth Attorney's budget. Council considered a request for a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $4,000 for the Circuit Court Clerk's Office to fund office expenses for the remainder of FY 96-97. Ashby Pritchett, Circuit Court Clerk, explained that he did not realize that State funds received for office supplies were not credited against the office supply expense line item. Instead, these funds are placed into General Fund revenue accounts. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved the supplemental appropriation, to be taken from the General Fund unexpended fund balance. Council acknowledged a financial report for the month ending April 30, 1997. In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) in response to a question from Council Member Haskell, Mr. Reynolds stated he was developing a plan to address the municipal 3udges' concerns about parking; (2) upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council asked the City Manager to research the issue, supported by a candidate for Governor, of eliminating the personal property tax on motor vehicles valued at less than 820,000 and develop an appropriate Resolution expressing Council's position on the matter; and (3) Mr. Reynolds announced that Council would conduct a work session on June 5, 1997 beginning at 11:00 A.M.
