TUESDAY. MAY 27. 1997 second reading, the following Ordinance No. 97-9 (which becomes effective July 1, 1997) amending Chapter 12 of the City Code in order to increase the cost of motor vehicle decals, as provided for in the FY 97-98 Budget: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled May 27, 1997, that it does hereby amend Chapter 12--Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Article III--Vehicle License, Section 12-51--Fee and Section 12-57--Replacement Decals of the City Code, as follows: Sec. 12-51. Fee. The annual license fee for vehicles required to be licensed under this article shall be as follows: (1) Automobiles: Fiftccn dollars ($15.00) Twenty dollars ($20.00) (2) Trucks of not more than fifteen thousand (15,000) pounds gross weight: Fiftccn dollars (~15.00) Twenty dollars ($20.00) (3) Trucks of more than fifteen thousand (15,000) pounds gross weight: One dollar ($1.00) per one thousand (1,000) pounds gross weight. (4) Motorcycles: Thrcc dollars (~3.00) Five dollars (85.00) Sec. 15-57. Replacement Decals. Whenever any person has traded a vehicle licensed under this article for another vehicle of like type, upon the surrender of all or the majority portion of the old license decal, a replacement decal shall be issued. A replacement decal may also be obtained upon satisfactory proof that the existing decal was destroyed or mutilated through no fault of the owner. A onc dollar ($1.00) three dollar ($3.00) fee shall be charged for replacement decals. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted, on second reading, Ordinance No. 97-5 establishing the City's revenues and expenditures, including tax rates, for fiscal year 1997-98.
