THURSDAY, MAY 15. 1997 <br />Project. <br /> <br />The meeting was then recessed. <br /> <br />The meeting was reconvened Thursday, May 15, 1997 in the Council <br />Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 9:00 a.m. All members of Council were <br />present. <br /> <br />Council considered approval, on first reading, of Ordinance No. 97-6 <br />amending the Terms and Conditions for Water and Sewer Service related <br />to water and sewer rates. The Mayor noted the proposed Ordinance <br />contained a minimum water rate of $8.00 per month (an increase of <br />82.60) and a minimum sewer rate of S6.00 per month (an increase of <br />$3.40). Vice-Mayor Crabtree made a motion to reduce the water service <br />minimum charge to $6.70. This motion was seconded by Council Member <br />Dallas. In response to a question, Finance Director Richard Fitts <br />stated the proposed reduction would result in a revenue loss of <br />$130,895. Also in response to a question, Mr. Reynolds suggested the <br />lost revenue be replaced with a transfer from the Electric Fund. The <br />motion was carried by unanimous vote and the Ordinance was approved, as <br />amended, on first reading. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved, on <br />first reading, Ordinance No. 97-7 amending Chapter 18--Solid Waste, <br />Article II--Refuse, Section 18-24--Fee Schedule, of the City Code <br />related to refuse collection fees. The Ordinance provided for an <br />increase in the monthly residential collection fee from 86.00 to $7.50, <br />an increase in the commercial dumpster empty fee from $14.50 to $15.50, <br />and an increase in the collection fee for businesses not using <br /> <br /> <br />
