TUESDAY. APRIL 8. 1997 <br />a feasibility study in FY 95-96 of the High School Spectator Gym <br />Project. However, the firm conducting the study failed to bill for <br />services rendered during FY 95-96, leaving $10,383 needed to fund this <br />expense during the current fiscal year. Upon motion, duly seconded and <br />by a vote of 4-0 (Council Member Dallas abstaining), Council approved <br />the supplemental appropriations. <br /> <br />11'5 <br /> <br />Council nominated the following individuals to the Virginia Municipal <br />League for service on the League's 1997 Policy Committees: Council <br />Member Teague--Environmental Quality; Council Member Haskell--Finance; <br />Vice-Mayor Crabtree--General Laws; Council Member Dallas--Human <br />Development and Education; Chief of Police (or representative)--Public <br />Safety; and Leon Towarnicki (Director of Public Works)--Transportation. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of considering appointments to the Board of Appeals and Industrial <br />Development Authority Board, as authorized by Subsection 1. At the <br />conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified <br />that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting <br />requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive <br />Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed <br />Bernie F. Gray, 910 Ainsley Street, to the Board of Appeals for a five- <br />year term ending 5/11/02. <br /> <br /> <br />
