Several Council members expressed appreciation for this <br />listing, stating that it was easier to use than the large, overall <br />technology plan. <br /> <br />Council Member Haskell noted the need for' an overall City/Schools <br />capital improvements plan. <br /> <br />The Council and Board agreed on a plan for Council Member visitation of <br />schools during 1996-97. Mr. Blackman stated he would include the <br />visitation plan in his report. <br /> <br />Dr. Trollinger noted that the School System planned to meet with area <br />legislators to discuss issues of importance for the 1997 General <br />Assembly on December 9, 1996 at 7:30 A.M. Council Members were invited <br />to attend this session. <br /> <br />At this point, the School Board and Council session was ended and <br />Council announced its intention to enter into Executive Session. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. At <br />the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council <br />certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open <br />meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) <br />only those business matters identified in the motion convening the <br />Executive Session were heard, discussed or considered during said <br /> <br /> <br />
