TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 1996 <br />There being no other comments, MayorAdams declared the public hearing <br />closed. After much discussion, Council suggested the Staff and/or City <br />Attorney review the possibility of including development standards for <br />the R-5 District. Council Member Haskell asked that reports be <br />provided on the results of the Planning Commission's public hearings on <br />these matters. It was also requested that the Staff research the <br />number of 5000 square-foot lots in the City. Upon motion, duly <br />seconded and by unanimous vote, Council tabled this matter. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council tabled <br />consideration of the rezoning of a number of properties from R-6 and R- <br />9 Residential to R-5 Residential. <br /> <br />Council considered a request by the Blue Ridge Power Agency that <br />Council adopt a Resolution in support of construction of American <br />Electric Power's Wyoming-Cloverdale 765 kV transmission line project. <br />Ron Poff, Project Manager, American Electric Power, spoke in support of <br />Council's adoption of the Resolution. Mr. Poff noted the U.S. Forest <br />Service had recommended the "No Action Alternative" on the project, <br />which could prevent the line from crossing federal land, thereby making <br />the project economically unfeasible. Council Member Haskell, noting <br />that no member of Council had reviewed the Forest Service's <br />Environmental Impact Statement on this project, expressed concern with <br />several items in the Resolution relating to the Forest Service. After <br />much discussion, the proposed Resolution was modified to delete <br />references to the Environmental Impact Statement.
