General Sign Regulations, Paragraph K. Temporary <br />Display, of the Zoning Ordinance <br /> <br />Our OrdinamT currently allows the use of trailer-mounted signs (with or without wheels, banners, <br />streamers, pelmants and/or animated devices suspended from ropes, cords or wires by issuance of a permit <br />lor a period of thirty days and only once every ninety days. The proposed amendment would allow a <br />pen11it to be issued for sixty days and if approved for another thiny days by issuance of another permit. <br />The amendment would also allow the City to remon~ the sign after the expiration date at the cost of the <br />individual applicant or responsible enterprise. <br /> <br />At the Public Hearing it was noted the service time of seasonal businesscs is uSlIally longer than one <br />month. This proposal would enabk these husinesses to advertise tor a longer period of time without the <br />cost of another permit. City staff' is recommending the amendment in an atlcmpt to be more business <br />lj'iendly. especially for smaller businesses. There was no citizen respollse regarding this proposed <br />amendment. and no one from the public was prcscnt at the hearing. <br /> <br />Following discllssion of the matter. the Planning Commission vOled unanimollsly (5-0). to forward <br />the proposed amendment, as allached, to City Council with a favorable recollllllendation. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission respcclt~llly submits the above recommendation for Coul1cil's f~lrther <br />consideration. <br /> <br />Sincerely. <br /> <br />James A.
