<br />Martinsville be designated as Professional rather than the present designation of Medium Density <br /> <br />Council next conducted a public hearing and considered adoption of a <br /> <br />Resolution authorizing the City Manager to file a Community Development <br /> <br />Block Grant application with the Virginia DHCD for the Cherry Street <br /> <br />Neighborhood Improvement Project. After brief comments from Wayne Knox, <br /> <br />Associates, Vice Mayor Clark declared the public hearing open. David Draper, <br /> <br />the old East Martinsville School and one citizen asked if there would be <br /> <br />apartments built as part of the project. Wayne Knox answered no, only single- <br /> <br />family homes. After no further comments, the Vice Mayor declared the public <br /> <br />hearing closed. Council Member Ferrill moved to adopt the Resolution as <br /> <br />presented (Attachment A); the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br /> <br />following vote, all members voting: Vote: 4-0. Yeas: (4) Clark, Anderson, <br /> <br />Council then recessed and convened as the Martinsville Redevelopment <br /> <br />and Housing Authority to consider two requests, one from the Town of Stuart, <br /> <br />Virginia, that the Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing Authority assist <br /> <br />them in their application for a Community Development Block Grant from the <br /> <br />Virginia DHCD for the Uptown area and one from the City of Galax, Virginia, to <br /> <br />assist them in their application for a Community Development Block Grant <br />
