<br />"M Martinsville <br /> <br />City Council <br />Agenda Summary <br /> <br />Meeting Date: <br />Item No: <br />Department: <br /> <br />June 5, 2007 <br />4. <br /> <br />Community Development <br /> <br />Issue: Consider setting a public hearing on a recommendation from <br />the Martinsville Planning Commission to be held July 24,2007 to amend Sections <br />II. Definitions, X. Residential Districts, XI. Professional Districts, and XIII. <br />Business and Manufacturing Districts, of the City's Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br />Summary: The definition of a bed and breakfast has been broadened to <br />allow a more diverse type of establishment to be permitted. This amendment calls <br />for a change in the wording of its use in the R-9 and R-6, Residential districts, as <br />well as the P-l, P-2, and RP-l, Professional Districts. The other change involves <br />the B-1, Business District, which involves the exclusion of educational facilities <br />and some public buildings under uses permitted by right or special use permit. It <br />further changes the maximum height requirement of structures under the special <br />use permit section. <br /> <br />Attachments: Recommendation letter from Planning Commission & proposed <br />amendments pages <br /> <br />Recommendations: City Staff recommends amending the proposed definitions <br />and some of its uses in order to meet current and future needs of the community. <br />
