Barton Street, off W. Church Street, being 30 feet in width <br />and 220.21 feet in length, as shown on City Tax Map 32. <br /> <br />Summary: The portion of North Barton Street lies between West Church <br />and Fayette Street. It is 30 feet wide and 220.21 feet in length. The City vacated <br />the northern end of this street in 1999, during the process of acquiring the <br />properties within this block and in anticipation of future development of this site. <br />Abandonment of remaining portion of the street will allow combination of all the <br />lots within this block surrounded by West Church Street, Moss, Fayette and <br />Market Streets. All the property adjacent to this street belongs to the City of <br />Martinsville. <br /> <br />Attachments: <br /> <br />Recommendation letter from Planning Commission & map <br /> <br />Recommendations: This abandonment will allow for the development of the <br />proposed sports complex. The street has served no purpose since the construction <br />of Market Street and the vacation of the private properties. Therefore, staff <br />recommends abandonment of this street lying off of West Church Street, subject to <br />the filing of an appropriate map with and approval by zoning administrator, <br />showing the area declared vacated, abandoned and combined with the appropriate <br />adjoining parcels, to be duly recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Martinsville <br />City Circuit Court. <br />
