<br />January 23, 2007 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the recent completion of the Liberty Street Intersection Improvement Project <br />(Project 0174-120-102) certain changes have occurred to streets within the project area resulting in an <br />overall increase in lane mileage eligible for maintenance payments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation procedures for adding urban <br />streets eligible for maintenance payments under the State Functional Classification System as set forth in <br />Section 33.1-41.1 of the Code, it is necessary that a request by Council Resolution be made in order for <br />the Department to consider said revisions; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled <br />January 23, 2007, that it does hereby request the Virginia Department of Transportation to add as eligible <br />mileage for street maintenance payments, the changes as shown on attached Form U-l for Liberty Street, <br />Clearview Drive, Northside Drive, Fairy Street, Dudley Street, and York Street for a total net increase of <br />1.97 lane miles, said streets being located in and maintained by the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />Attachment: Form V-I <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Clark made comments about the reduction in Leisure <br /> <br />Services, stating that he is for youth and semor programs and wanted the <br /> <br />citizens to know that Council was not ignoring their comments about keeping <br /> <br />the City Reservoir open. Council Member Lawson also made comments about <br /> <br />Leisure Services and asked City Attorney Monday for an update on the list of <br /> <br />repeat violators of property maintenance issues. He indicated that he was <br /> <br />doing some preliminary work and then would pass the files along to Joan <br /> <br />Ziglar, Commonwealth's Attorney, for prosecution. The list would also be put <br /> <br />on MGTV22. Council Member Ferrill expressed his appreciation for the positive <br /> <br />events happening in the community such as the Altrusa Club's donation, the <br /> <br />Wilson Park Committee, the Race for Books program and the NAACP, which <br /> <br />showed that there are citizens interested in being involved in the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Reynolds called attention to the SIgn on display at the meeting <br /> <br />referring to building an inclusive community and stated that the City had <br /> <br />.
