412 TUESDAY DECEMBER 27. 1955 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, on Tuesday, December 27, 1955, at 7:30 P.M., with all members present, as follows: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett; Vice-Mayor and Councilman C. P. Craig; and Councilmen B. H. Hill, "W. T. Turner, and J. R. Walker. Minutes of the regular Council meeting held December 13, 1955 were approved as read. Council unanimously enacted the following ordinance, as placed on first reading December 13, 1955, amending the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map to provide for the rezoning of a portion of Spruce Street Extended: BE IT ORDAINID by the Council of the City of Ma.rtinsville that the Zoning Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be amended to provide as follows: Tha t all of the property presently owned by Lanier Farm, Inc., and lying to the rear of the present B-1 Business district between the limits on Spruce Street Extended be rezoned from A-I Residential to B-1 Business. Council then considered the proposal, embodied in the ordinance also plqced on first reading December 13th, to rezone both the East and West sides of Old Danville Road between a point 460 feet north of its intersection with parkview Avenue and a point 1530 feet south of said intersection. Mr. Frank I. Richardson appeared before Council in opposition to said proposal insofar as it would affect his property in the area. After some discussion in which were raised the questions as to why the area north of Parkview Avenue should be rezoned and as to why all of the property fronting on the West side of
