<br />,04 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 13, 1955 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Coun::il of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, on <br /> <br />Tuesday, December 13, 1955, at 7:30 P.M., with all members present, as follows: Mayor <br /> <br />and CounciJ.man R. S. Hodnett; Vice-Mayor and Councilman C. P. Craig; and CounciJ.men <br /> <br />B. H. Hill, W. T. Turner, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Counc il meeting held November 22, 1955, and of the special <br /> <br />Council meeting held December 10, 1955, were approved as read. <br /> <br />In accordance with duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on the question of rezoning Lanier Farm property on Spruce street from !lA-l Residentialll <br /> <br />to llB-l Business!l, as previously recommended by the Planning Corrnnission. No one present <br /> <br />voiced any objections to this proposed rezoning and Council placed the following <br /> <br />ordinance effecting said rezoning on first reading: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville that the Zoning <br />Code and Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be amended to provide as <br />follows: <br /> <br />That all of the property presently owned by Lanier Farm, Inc., <br />and lying to the rear of the present B-1 Busi;~ss district <br />between the limits on Spruce Street Extended be rezoned from <br />A-I Residential to B-1 Business. <br /> <br />Also in accordance vdth duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on a proposal, as approved by the Planning Commission, to rezone from <br /> <br />llB-l Businessll to !lA_Ill and f1A-2 Residentialfl the east and west sides, respectively, <br /> <br />of the Old Danville Road bet-Neen a point 460 feet north of its intersection with <br /> <br />parkview Avenue and a point 1530 feet south of said intersection.
