But keep abreast - we must, so that an unduly heavy <br />burden will not fall upon future generations, and thus depress <br />the comnnmi ty. <br /> <br />In view of the facts and OpJ..21'J.ons e:>"'Pressed above, the Hartinsville <br />City School Board respectfully submits the following building <br />program with the request that plans be set in motion immediately <br />for financing the same: <br /> <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />4. <br /> <br />New Albert Harris High School <br />Addition to East Martinsville <br />Addition to Clearview School <br />New School in Eastern Section <br /> <br />$ 780,000 <br />School 64,000 <br />233,000 <br />of City 373,000 <br />$1,450,000 <br /> <br />In order to expedite the construction progrem the School Board <br />should know by March 15th or shortly thereafter whether funds <br />are available for the construction of the above projects. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council tentatively approved <br /> <br />the School Board I s request and instructed City Attorney stone to prepare for <br /> <br />Council r s consideration a bond ordinance encompassing the School Board I s <br /> <br />recommended objectives. <br /> <br />The following report of the City Planning Commission, in connection with a <br /> <br />request submitted several months ago qy the First Baptist Church that Starling <br /> <br />Avenue be widened from Church Street to Mulberry Street, was unanimously <br /> <br />accepted and approved qy Council: <br /> <br />The Martinsville Planning Conunission, at its regular meeting <br />on Tuesday, November 15, 1955, considered a request from the <br />First Baptist Church of this city for the widening of Starling <br />Avenue from Church Street to Mulberry Road. This request was <br />referred to the Planning Commission qy City COtUlcil sometime <br />ago with instructions to report thereon to the Cotlncil not <br />later than December 1, 1955. <br /> <br />Following a complete study of existing conditions on Starling <br />Avenue in this block - including traffic counts - and after <br />much discussion thereon, the Planning Commission came to the <br />following conclusions: <br />
