The petitioners also suggested that additional parking <br /> <br />spaces be provided on the City's "Old Shop" property to the north of Fayette Street <br /> <br />Parking Lot. This suggestion was referred to City Manager Mathewson who, meanwhile, <br />reported to Council his plans to effect cer1;ain traffic changes by September 1st, <br />to 'Which Couroil expressed its approval. <br /> <br />In ccmpliance with a written request !ran the Martinsville Junior Chamber of <br /> <br />Cornnerce (Mr. Nick PrilJamsn, Jr., President), Council agreed to waive certain <br /> <br />parking regulations during the forthcaning tobacco market season for tobacco farmers <br />in accordance with the procedure developed for the 1954 tobacco market, authorizing <br /> <br />City Manager Mathewson to handle this matter in tm same manner as it was handled <br />in 1954. <br /> <br />Council received a request .from Mr. J. D. Renfroe, Route 4, Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />that he be permitted to extend at his expense the City's water main from the inter- <br />section of Clarke Road and Old Danville Road some 600 feet along the Old Danville <br /> <br />Road to a point opposite his residence, all of which lies outside the corporate <br /> <br />limits.
