<br />~48 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />:tIJARCH 22. 1955 <br /> <br />By letter dated Narch 22, 1955 from his attorney, Hr. John Epperly of Broaddus, <br /> <br />Epperly and Broaddus, !vir. P. S. Ford requested Council's permission for <br /> <br /> <br />an exception to Section 2203.1 of the City's Building Code (Building Code, <br /> <br /> <br />Hertinsville, 1951) pertaining to a building Hr. Ford proposes to build at <br /> <br /> <br />the intersection of Church and Bridge streets. Council granted such <br /> <br />permission provided all other provisions of City Codes Qre complied with <br /> <br /> <br />and provided a satisfactory "save harmlessll agreement is entered into by <br /> <br />Mr. Ford and the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />Council took no action on an offer from HI's. J. E. Lovell of 117 Ellsworth <br /> <br />street, this city, to purchase from the City a small triangular tract of <br /> <br />land in the corner of Brown Street Field other than to offer this tract to <br /> <br />fITS. Lovell under a one-dollar-a-year lease agreement. <br /> <br />In granting permission to Mr. Homer C. Hright to install a six-inch water <br /> <br />main at Greyson Street and Owens Avenue K'Ctension to Columbus Street, Council <br /> <br />stipulated that s2id water main be constructed in accordance with the City's <br /> <br />specifications but at no cost to the City and, further, that this water main <br /> <br />be installed within sixty days from M~rch 22, 1955 or prior to adoption by <br /> <br />Council of a new subdivision ordinance now under consideration by Council, <br /> <br /> <br />which ever is the shorter period. Council also suggested that before <br /> <br /> <br />};r. 'vJright begin this project he consult with Hr. George H. Brown, Director <br /> <br /> <br />of the City's Water-Street Division. <br /> <br />Mayor Hodnett brought to Council's and the public's attention the current <br /> <br /> <br />issue of PUBLIC NAIJAG:E:l"lENT which contained a report on "Hanager Leadership <br /> <br /> <br />Functions" prepared by City Hanager }Iathevlson, with the assist3nce of five <br />
